Man Utd and their new investors have made it clear to everyone associated with the club that they will be more hands-on with the club and have pledged to be a visible presence around the training ground.

Sir Dave Brailsford can be seen visiting the ground acting as a sort of eyes-and-ears for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who recently purchased a 25% stake at the club along with INEOS

Sir Dave Brailsford was seen at the Carrington training ground on Monday ahead of the impending overhaul at Man Utd.

The new board member was there to address the playing squad with a certain mission statement, making the new owners’ intentions clear.

According to The Athletic, Brailsford delivered the address aimed at outlining INEOS’ philosophy and a heavy emphasis on ‘standards’ to be set and met.

Visit following Marcus Rashford’s controversy

The timing has been an awkward one for English forward Marcus Rashford, as the visit comes at the exact time where he has been seen falling short of his own personal standard of professionalism.

Marcus Rashford was seen exiting a nightclub in Belfast after spending all night partying, before reporting ill for training for the FA Cup tie against Newport County.

Following this, an internal inquiry was held at the club recently, following which a club statement was released expressing how Rashford had shown regret.

The statement also mentioned how Man Utd would be drawing a line and moving on from the matter, however, this has clearly invoked a reaction from Utd’s new top brass with Brailsford’s recent visit.

It is telling how soon after the incident, a visit from Brailsford was warranted, and a speech emphasising a set philosophy with an emphasis on standards was delivered.

It may just be that falling short of these standards again in the middle of an incoming overhaul at the club may just seal Rashford’s future at the club.
