Christian Eriksen has pulled off another twist in his remarkable career. The former Manchester United midfielder has joined Bundesliga side Wolfsburg as a free agent, ending weeks of speculation about his next move.
The Denmark international, now 33, has agreed a contract until 2027 and will wear the number 24 shirt.
After leaving Old Trafford in the summer, many expected Eriksen to stay closer to home or even head back to Denmark. Instead, he has chosen a fresh challenge in Germany.
Speaking after his unveiling, Eriksen said: “VfL Wolfsburg is my first club in the Bundesliga – I’m really looking forward to this new adventure. I’m convinced we can achieve something together at Wolfsburg. The talks with the club bosses went very well.”
He also admitted that linking up with familiar Danish teammates made the move even more appealing.

Wolfsburg’s sporting director comments on Eriksen
Wolfsburg’s sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz could hardly hide his delight. “We’re really pleased that this opportunity has arisen for us at short notice,” he said.
“In Christian Eriksen, we’re getting a player who has seen and experienced everything at the highest level. His enormous experience, his quality on the pitch and his personality will be a valuable boost to our young players in particular.”
The signing surprised many, as German reports had hinted Bayer Leverkusen were in pole position. Even English media suggested a Premier League return might be on the cards.
But Wolfsburg moved quickly, sealing a deal that adds both experience and prestige to their midfield.
Eriksen leaves Manchester United after three seasons, 107 appearances, and two trophies – the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. He scored eight goals for the club, the last of which fittingly came in his final outing at Old Trafford.
Eriksen’s career has already seen him beat the odds, from his Euro 2020 cardiac arrest to his comeback in the Premier League.
Now, he’s set to script another chapter in Germany. Whether he starts against Koln this weekend remains to be seen, but one thing is certain — Wolfsburg fans have a new maestro to cheer.
