Erik ten Hag selects Man Utd wonderkid to solve “biggest issue” of season so far

Manchester United Injury: Kobbie Mainoo

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag selected youngster Kobbie Mainoo to play for their midfield as soon as he recovers from his injury.

Mainoo is currently suffering from an ankle injury incurred during the pre-season match against Real Madrid.

Ten Hag chooses Mainoo to rescue the midfield

Kobbie Mainoo featured in the first team’s pre-season matches and managed to have an impressive performance.

The academy star is set to have his breakthrough this season and is one of the priorities of Ten Hag.

United’s midfield have shown poor performances in the past few matches and is one of the reasons for the goals conceded.

Sofyan Amrabat is still not ready to play for the club and rumors about internal conflicts between senior players are a huge concern for the manager.

According to Chris Sutton, Manchester United have many weaknesses in the midfield.

“I think Manchester United’s problem area, and I say problem area, but the biggest issue Manchester United have is that midfield area.

I just do not think they have the legs and dynamism.”

Following defeat to Bayern, Manchester United are looking to make a comeback against Burnley this Saturday.

Youngster to take up defensive role in the midfield

Ten Hag is keeping Mainoo as one of his options other than Amrabat to play alongside Casemiro in the defensive midfield.

Christian Eriksen is struggling to play alongside Casemiro this season and Ten Hag does not see McTominay as an option to play for the first team.

The Scottish international has failed to impress since the start of the season after not deciding to leave this summer.

While Mason Mount is also sidelined with injuries, Amrabat and Mainoo fit perfectly into Ten Hag’s plan and playing style.

Ten Hag has already confirmed that Mainoo will play for the Red Devils this season.

“Not in one month, but in two months, he will be available. And so, for the winter [that] is coming up, he absolutely will have his games.

Ten Hag said in a press conference

The bigger question currently is can Mainoo save United’s midfield and help them to recover their dying season?
