After declining the bench role, Dean Henderson has been excluded from Man United squad in the pre-season.

In a surprising turn, Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has been excluded from Erik ten Hag’s squad for their upcoming pre-season tour in Norway.

Reports suggest that Henderson declined a bench role at the club, leading to his omission from the team.

After spending last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, Henderson returned to training at Carrington and was expected to feature in United’s friendly against Leeds.

However, the 26-year-old’s absence from the squad traveling to Oslo has fueled speculation about his future at the club.

The potential arrival of Onana from Inter Milan in a deal worth £43 million plus add-ons has seemingly unsettled Henderson.

Dean Henderson with the Potential Move to Nottingham Forest or Injury Concerns in Man United

Consequently, a permanent move to Nottingham Forest for up to £20 million has been mentioned as a possible outcome once Onana’s transfer to United is finalized.

However, it is worth noting that Henderson’s absence from the pre-season squad could also be attributed to a long-term injury he sustained while on loan at Nottingham Forest.

He underwent surgery on his thigh, causing him to miss a significant portion of the previous campaign.

Ten Hag might be exercising additional caution with the talented shot-stopper as a precautionary measure.

Notable Additions and Absences in Manchester United’s Pre-Season Squad

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s 26-man squad for the tour includes new signing Mason Mount, who recently completed a £65 million move from Chelsea and has been entrusted with the prestigious No. 7 shirt.

Antony, Donny van de Beek, and Anthony Martial are absent from the squad, leaving supporters perplexed about their respective situations.

As United’s pre-season preparations unfold, the absence of Henderson and the imminent arrival of Onana have undoubtedly created uncertainty in the goalkeeping department.
