Manchester United’s goalkeeper, Dean Henderson, appears to be unlikely to join the squad for their upcoming pre-season tour as he continues to pursue a move away from the club.

In response, Manchester United are pressing forward with their plans to acquire two new goalkeepers this summer, aiming to replace David De Gea and Henderson.

However, recent reports indicate that United have submitted an improved offer for Andre Onana, an Inter goalkeeper, as they hope to secure his signature.

The Manchester Evening News have disclosed that the Red Devils are expected to sell Henderson to Nottingham Forest for a transfer fee of £30 million.

Dean Henderson determined to get Regular Playing Time

Charlotte Duncker of The Times has also corroborated the news, affirming that Henderson is unlikely to accompany United on their pre-season tour in America.

Last season, he embarked on a loan spell at Nottingham Forest, where he performed admirably as their first-choice goalkeeper until suffering a thigh injury in January.

Moreover, Keylor Navas temporarily replaced him for the latter half of the season but has since returned to PSG upon the expiration of his loan deal.

What did Cooper tell the reporters?

Forest manager Steve Cooper has expressed his keenness to bring Henderson back permanently, considering his impressive loan stint last season.

“We have all enjoyed working with him,

We like his personality, he is a good professional and has a fantastic mentality. In terms of whether we will work with him again, it’s hard to say.

We are grateful for what he has given and what he will still give us. He will still be around and quite visible. Our medical team is working with United’s over what they want our contribution to be towards his recovery. In terms of support, he will be with us until the end, which is what he would want.

We have a good working relationship with United and communication. It is still fresh after the surgery for what his recovery plan will be. We wish him well.”

While at Forest, Henderson participated in 18 league matches, recording six clean sheets and making 52 saves.

However, as Manchester United pursues the acquisition of new goalkeepers, it appears increasingly likely that Dean Henderson will seek a departure from the club.

Nottingham Forest stands as a potential destination, with a fee of £30 million being mentioned.

However, Henderson’s desire for regular playing time drives his anticipated exit from Old Trafford.
