Harry Maguire hints at leaving Man United to join the Spurs

Harry Maguire leaving Man United

FIFA World Cup just ended, and Maguire is back in the Manchester United news headlines hinting to leave Old Trafford.

United gets tipped about the Harry Maguire joining Tottenham

At the World Cup in Qatar, Maguire disproved his detractors. The 29-year-old was one of Gareth Southgate’s most outstanding performers as the Three Lions advanced to the competition quarterfinals despite his poor club performance.

However, under manager Erik ten Hag at United, Maguire has lost his spot in the starting XI following a string of subpar performances. In fact, the England international has fallen below Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the United hierarchy, both of whom were World Cup finalists. Ten Hag said that he is willing to give club captain Maguire a chance this season and tasked the player with emulating his international performances in the Premier League.

The Harry Maguire drama

As the England center-back prepares to go from starting at the World Cup to sitting on United’s bench, the manager of the Red Devils stressed that the player can decide where his future rests. Ally McCoist, a well-known analyst, said on TalkSPORT Breakfast that he does not see the center-back ending up at United by the conclusion of the January transfer window.

Since Ten Hag was named United manager in the summer, Maguire, 29, has had difficulty getting into the first team. Maguire’s ability to remain in the England squad for the World Cup in Qatar was in question when he lost his starting position at Old Trafford. But England boss Gareth Southgate trusted the United defender, and it paid off as the defender was a standout player throughout the competition.

Christian Eriksen and Marcus Rashford both scored once as United prevailed 2-0, with the latter hitting an incredible solo goal to advance to the Carabao Cup quarterfinals. It wasn’t all good, though; Dubravka, the backup goalie, had a terrible night between the polls and was fortunate to preserve a spotless record.
