Harry Maguire’s future at Manchester United has been reportedly thrown into fresh doubt after a contract twist left him staring at the exit door.
The England defender, now 32, is in the final year of his current deal, and his lack of playing time under Ruben Amorim is pushing him toward a decision that could end his Old Trafford stay.
The former United captain was not short of interest in the summer, but the club chose to keep him.
Since then, Maguire has not started a single Premier League game this season, with Amorim preferring to use him from the bench.
That pattern has raised eyebrows, especially from those who believe a player of his stature should either start or move on.
Former United scout Mick Brown told Football Insider: “If he’s not starting games regularly, Maguire is going to look at his options. The way he’s being used at the moment is only pushing him out, he’s not going to want to stick around in that role.”

A tactical misfit or a fading trust?
Amorim has often turned to Maguire late in games, either to shore up the defense or even as a makeshift target man. Brown questioned the logic behind that use, saying:
“That’s not what you should be asking of your centre-half. If Amorim feels he can make the difference, then you have to question why he’s not playing from the start.”
Saudi Pro League clubs are reportedly monitoring the situation, while United are still said to be considering offering a new deal.
But the longer Maguire warms the bench, the stronger the feeling grows that his time at Old Trafford is nearly up.
