It’s Liverpool vs Manchester United for the World Cup Semifinalist

Sofyan Amrabat to Liverpool and Manchester United

Liverpool recently jumped into the contest to sign Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina for whom Manchester United were already contesting.

The Reds lost many midfielders in this transfer window and have contacted Amrabat after failing to sign Moises Caicedo, Mason Mount, and Romeo Lavia.

Manchester United looking to sign Amrabat before Liverpool

Manchester United have kept Amrabat as one of the top targets to sign this summer.

However, due to a lack of funds after signing players like Mount, Onana, and Højlund for a total of €192 million, the Moroccan’s signing is getting delayed.

The Red Devils rely on their sales to raise funds for Amrabat. Fiorentina have asked for €25 million which is a bargain for a player like him who was one of the best holding midfielders of the Qatar World Cup 2022.

The 20-time English Champions are trying to offload players like Donny Van de Beek and Scott McTominay to collect capital for signing the Moroccan.

La Liga side, Real Sociedad have shown their interest in signing Donny but things have got complicated.

While Scott McTominay still has interests in clubs like West Ham and Newcastle but there are no bids for him.

Amrabat wants Manchester United

According to Fabrizio Romano, Amrabat wants to play for the Red Devils. Romano explains:

“Amrabat is still waiting for Man Utd. But he’s been waiting since June, waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting! But for sure the interest from Man Utd in Amrabat is still concrete, waiting to see what happens with the outgoings.”

Amrabat was previously linked with Atletico Madrid and Liverpool but reports suggest that the Moroccan wants to play at Old Trafford.

Sofyan who has played under Erik Ten Hag at FC Utrecht, makes him valuable. He knows and understands Ten Hag’s tactics makes it easier for him.

Liverpool want Amrabat

Liverpool who are desperately looking for midfielders have started aiming at Sofyan. The Reds brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai earlier in the transfer window to cover gaps left by Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner.

But with the unexpected departure of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia, Klopp’s main concern is now their midfield.

Liverpool have brought in Wataru Endo who is 30 years old but he lacks experience. Endo has 50 caps for Japan and was a standout star at the World Cup for Japan in Qatar last December.

With players like Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliot, Liverpool’s midfield lacks in depth and experience, Amrabat’s signing can do Liverpool wonders.

Demand for Amrabat

The World Cup semifinalist’s experience of over 250 appearances across Europe showcases his talent and consistency. He impressed the world too during the Qatar World Cup.

Sofyan’s arrival at Old Trafford would provide depth to the midfield and will also support Casemiro. With Manchester United in the Champions League this season, the Moroccan will be a valuable addition to the squad.

The midfielder’s ability to both attack and defense makes him lethal and with him, the Red Devils could reach great heights with him.
