Jim Ratcliffe’s Manchester United Odyssey: What Lies Ahead

Manchester United Takeover: Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim

Manchester United are all set to welcome Sir Jim Ratcliffe on board, with him being the new investor of the club.

But the question that arises is what are his plans, and long-term goals for the club? Do they align with what The Red Devils already have in their bag?

If we backtrail a couple of seasons we can recollect an emerging name that came up from the attacking sector of Manchester United, i.e. Mason Greenwood.

But unfortunately, he was loaned out to Getafe after he had a great Premier League Season. So, the question that arises is whether Ratcliffe’s goals align with the Club’s goals.

According to a report from The Guardian, Jim Ratcliffe is set to stand by United’s decision about keeping the 21-year-old forward firmly away from Old Trafford.

Mason Greenwood’s contract with Manchester United is valid until 2025, but because he won’t be allowed to rejoin the team following his loan with Getafe, the club may decide to sell him in the summer of 2024.

Greenwood’s Concerning Future

Mason Greenwood was banished from Manchester United‘s squad in January 2022 after allegations of domestic abuse surfaced on social media

Greenwood scored his first goal for the team in the 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo during his five appearances while on loan at Getafe in Spain.

According to a story in The Sun, Greenwood was eager to extend his stay in Spain and wanted to make his loan assignment permanent.

After this statement, several Spanish clubs have shown interest in the young Striker, clubs such as Sevilla, and other unnamed Spanish clubs.

The Italian Giants Juventus have also shown interest in Mason Greenwood, according to One Football.

Is Manchester United right on the right track by making Jim Ratcliffe as new investor?

The question which arises now is have Manchester United taken the right decision by closing the doors for Mason Greenwood’s return to the club?

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to take control of all United’s sporting matters, this gives the new minority shareholder the choice of whether Greenwood will rejoin the team at a future date or not.

It seems obvious that Greenwood would wish to sever connections given that Ratcliffe is expected to take control at Old Trafford and that inviting Greenwood back would be a significant PR misstep.
