La Liga legend favorite to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd

Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United

After suffering a thrashing defeat against their arch-rivals Manchester City, the Red Devils Manager Erik ten Hag’s position is under scrutiny.

He is under pressure to perform better at Old Trafford. It was a bad day at The Theatre of Dreams for United as Erling Haaland scored two goals, and Phil Foden added another to secure a very comfortable 3-0 victory for Pep Guardiola’s team.

Favorites for the Job – Who can replace Erik at Manchester?

According to Odds Checker former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is the 4/1 favorite to replace Ten Hag.

Zidane guided Real Madrid to three consecutive Champions League titles during his tenure as the manager.

Julian Nagelsmann, the current manager of the German national team and formerly associated with Bayern Munich, is the second most favored candidate to succeed Ten Hag, with odds set at 5/1.

Following closely behind, Graham Potter, a former Chelsea and Brighton manager, is the third favorite in the running, with odds of 10/1.

In addition to these three, other notable contenders include Antonio Conte (16/1), Gareth Southgate (16/1), Diego Simeone (20/1), and Mauricio Pochettino (20/1).

The defeat suffered by United has caused a drop in their position in the points table. Currently, United occupies the eighth spot in the Premier League standings, trailing fourth-placed Liverpool by eight points and the league leaders, Tottenham Hotspur, by a margin of 11 points.

Ten Hag remained resolute following the match, asserting that his players are unquestionably making progress, regardless of the speculation surrounding his future. He further quoted that:-

“The three games before we won, and the spirit is very good, so I think we are on the way up.

The start was difficult but we are on the way up. I am sure when we have some injured players coming back then our side will be stronger. We have to be patient.”

He further stated that:-

“When you see the first half it is toe-to-toe and just the penalty changes the game, but even then we could have returned in the game with the shot of Scott McTominay just before half-time.

For chances it was very toe-to-toe and also in the previous games against them in the FA Cup final and January it was very close. So the probability that we could win was there in all the games.”
