Manchester United are keen on fast-tracking pursuit of goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Urawa Red Diamonds. 

The Red Devils appear keen on accelerating their pursuit of young goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, as reported by Dharmesh Sheth.

The 20-year-old currently plays for Japanese J-League side Urawa Red Diamonds and has drawn attention from the Red Devils. 

However, the signing is dependent on resolving Dean Henderson’s future at the club.

Standing tall at 6’3, Suzuki has impressed at his current club, with coach Maciej Skorza acknowledging his potential. 

He has been a key figure for the Japanese national team, earning his first cap in a commanding 6-0 victory against Hong Kong in 2022. 

Despite his promising talent, Suzuki has seen limited game time this season, featuring in only five J-League Cup matches and no league appearances.

According to Sheth’s conversation with GIVEMESPORT, Erik ten Hag is contemplating Suzuki as a potential transfer target, and the deal is likely to pick up pace once Henderson’s future is clarified.

Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s manager, reportedly views Suzuki as a potential target, especially in the context of the impending arrival of Andre Onana as the club’s primary goalkeeper. 

With Onana’s addition in mind, the transfer pursuit for Suzuki is expected to gain momentum once there’s clarity on Henderson’s future.

The interest in Suzuki is understandable, as he caught Manchester United’s attention during the U17 World Cup in 2017.

The club is preparing an offer, impressed by his performance against the Dutch national team in a U21 international match.

Suzuki’s style of play, which emphasizes comfortable distribution from the back, has drawn comparisons to Onana, suggesting a seamless fit into Ten Hag’s preferred football approach.

However, recent reports indicate that Suzuki may not be as eager to join Manchester United, as he prioritizes regular first-team football ahead of the upcoming Olympic Games, where he aims to secure Japan’s first-choice keeper position. 

This opportunity may not be readily available at Old Trafford, leading to speculation that the move might not materialize.

In light of Suzuki’s reluctance, the club could shift their focus to signing Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, who would provide competition for Onana in the next season.
