Man United transfer as Brazilian ‘says yes’ as club’s asking price gets slashed

Manchester United: Scott McTominay and Fred

Galatasaray gets the Brazilian Frederico Rodrigues’s approval for the transfer from Manchester United after a tough season.

According to recent reports, Galatasaray has received the green light from Brazilian midfielder Fred to pursue a transfer from Manchester United.

Fred faced a challenging season at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag, as new signings Casemiro and Christian Eriksen pushed him out of the starting XI, resulting in only 12 Premier League starts compared to 24 in the previous campaign.

Man Utd is open to offloading Fred this summer, and with Ten Hag looking to raise funds for his recruitment drive, a move seems likely.

Manchester United are looking for Transfer as the Brazilian Departs

The Red Devils have already secured Mason Mount from Chelsea and Andre Onana from Inter Milan, with Rasmus Hojlund, set to join from Atalanta for £72m.

While they have Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat and Southampton’s Romeo Lavia on their radar as potential midfield targets, they may need to sell Fred and others to make room for new acquisitions.

Galatasaray is showing significant interest in Fred, with the player reportedly agreeing to become their new No.8.

The Turkish club has made their intentions known to both Man Utd and the player, and an official offer is awaited to finalize the deal.

Fred has also received offers from Premier League side Fulham and Saudi Arabia, but it appears he is leaning towards joining Galatasaray.

His availability for a “bargain” price has been a factor in attracting interest from various clubs.

Gary Neville’s Sympathy for Fred Amidst Transfer Negotiations

Former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville has been sympathetic towards Fred, suggesting that the midfielder struggled due to the high expectations that accompanied his £60m transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018.

In March last year, Neville said on Sky Sports:

“I think Fred was outstanding against Atletico Madrid and probably no one says it enough actually. The problem with Fred is he was £60million.

“The problem has never been, to be fair, Fred’s commitment, his levels of performance. I know people are critical of him, but he does what he does very well.

“Every club at the top of the league has a Fred, but they don’t ordinarily pay £60m for the player. And I think that’s the problem, that you expect more when you pay that sort of money. But I think he’s been very good this last 12-18 months, even two or three years to be fair.

“Whoever the manager has been while Fred’s been there, they’ve always picked him. So [the critics] can continue to keep saying Fred shouldn’t be a Manchester United player, but everyone keeps picking him because obviously, he’s a good trainer and a good lad.

“Fred isn’t the problem at Manchester United. He’s one of the ones that’s been consistent in performance levels.”

Negotiations over the transfer fee are ongoing, with Man Utd initially asking for €20m, but they have now dropped their price to as low as €10m to facilitate his departure.

As both clubs await an official offer, the next transfer window promises to be an interesting time for all parties involved.
