Man Utd ‘agree’ Mason Greenwood return stance as Anthony Martial nears transfer exit door

Mason Greenwood to rejoin Manchester United as Martial prepares to leave

Mason Greenwood has been in fine goal-scoring form this season, while Manchester United’s overall attack has struggled, especially with Anthony Martial’s uncertain future at the club.

Martial’s contract is nearing its end, and there are no indications of an extension being offered.

His performance this season, with just one goal in 14 appearances, has left his United career in doubt, reflecting the frustrations of his nine-year stint at Old Trafford.

While manager Erik ten Hag is considering one-year contract extensions for players like Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, and Hannibal Mejbri, there’s little confidence that Martial will receive a similar offer.

This has led to rumors of United seeking a short-term striker in the January transfer window, with names like Mehdi Taremi from FC Porto, Wissam Ben Yedder from AS Monaco, and Gabriel Barbosa from Flamengo being linked to the club.

Will Mason Greenwood play for Manchester United again?

Despite this, some fans are wondering whether Mason Greenwood, who has been scoring goals during his season-long loan at Getafe in Spain, could be reintegrated into United’s attack.

Greenwood is under contract at United until 2025, with the option for an additional year, and a decision on his future will likely be made next summer, possibly under a new sporting structure with Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe taking over football operations at the club.

However, there have been reports of backlash regarding Greenwood’s potential return to United this season, suggesting that he may not play for the club again.

Ten Hag’s search for attacking reinforcements has been fueled by the struggles of Rasmus Hojlund, a 20-year-old Dane who is yet to score in the Premier League.

In fact, the entire United forward line has been misfiring, with Marcus Rashford’s goal against Arsenal being the only league goal scored by the forwards in 11 appearances this season.

This could prompt the club to seek another addition, similar to Wout Weghorst, in an attempt to alleviate the goal-scoring burden.

However, it appears that Mason Greenwood is unlikely to be part of this solution.
