Man Utd receives huge boost ahead of Manchester Derby

Manchester United and Manchester City are preparing for another chapter of their fierce derby at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

The derby arrives early in the season but already feels like it could set the tone for both sides. United boss Ruben Amorim has injury headaches, but the news from the blue half of the city may just swing momentum toward his team.

Pep Guardiola confirmed a triple setback with Omar Marmoush, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Rayan Cherki all ruled out.

John Stones is also a doubt after pulling out of international duty. For a City squad that has looked shaky in recent weeks, these absences could open the door for United to take full advantage.

A weakened City defense in Manchester Derby?

Without Ait-Nouri, City appear short at full-back. That could be a red carpet for United’s wide men, with Patrick Dorgu and Amad Diallo likely tasked to stretch the play.

Amorim knows stopping Erling Haaland will still be the main challenge, but facing him without Marmoush alongside should ease the pressure.

Meanwhile, United also have injuries. Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount, and Diogo Dalot are sidelined.

Still, Amorim has replacements lined up, with Kobbie Mainoo pushing for his first Premier League start of the season and Benjamin Sesko set to lead the line.

Altay Bayindir continues in goal, meaning new signing Senne Lammens must stay patient.

A chance to strike back

United head into the clash with renewed belief after Bruno Fernandes’ last-gasp penalty secured victory over Burnley before the break. Amorim will hope that spirit carries into the derby, especially with City not at full strength.

United may lean on youth and fresh energy, with Mainoo, Sesko, and Dorgu all expected to start. That blend of experience and hunger could be just what United need in enemy territory.
