Man Utd faces humiliation in private friendly against Burnley.

Man Utd lost 3-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Vincent Kompany’s relegation-threatened Burnley, as they prepare for the FA Cup tie against Newport County.

Man Utd lose to Burnley

Man Utd have been dealt another setback amidst rumours that ten Hag could be replaced, as they look onwards to the FA Cup tie against Newport County.

Man Utd held a behind-closed-doors friendly against Burnley at the Carrington training ground on Wednesday, according to journalist Fredrik A Filtvedt.

Newly promoted relegation-fighting Burnley are second-from-bottom in the 19th position, with only 12 points secured in 20 games; while Man Utd sit in eighth position with 32 points.

Despite the result, ten Hag and Utd can take solace in the fact that the match was arranged to build match fitness and that the team is adequately prepared for the FA Cup tie against Newport County.

According to Insider United, the players featured included Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martínez, and Casemiro, who all played at least 45 minutes against Burnley; all three are recently coming back after lengthy spells on the sidelines.

Mason Mount didn’t play against Burnley but is still stepping up his recovery on the road back to the first team.

United could lose a youngster for free

It is likely that youngster Omari Forson could be leaving the club on a free or as a free agent this summer, as the club had a contract offer for the 19-year-old rejected.

The reports follow after Forson was given his debut for the first team under Erik ten Hag as a late substitute in the FA Cup win against Wigan Athletic on January 8. The youngster was also named on the bench in the game against Tottenham.

The news is similar to the departure of striker Matteo Mejia, who failed to register a single first-team appearance for the club having been sold on a free transfer to Sevilla, and who ex-coaches describe as ‘deadly’, as fast as a ‘bullet’, and ‘physically an animal’.

Man Utd would be well to avoid any more Pogba situations at the club when the highly rated midfielder left the club as a youngster for free to Juventus and was bought back years later for an astronomical fee.
