Man Utd players make feelings on Erik ten Hag clear as sack stance emerges

Erik Ten Hag Planning new deal for Man United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is facing scrutiny from both fans and his own players following their disappointing performance in the Manchester derby.

The Red Devils started brightly but ultimately suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City, with Erling Haaland playing a key role in City’s victory.

The result has added to the pressure on Ten Hag, who had received praise during his first year in charge but is now dealing with a challenging 2023/24 season.

Manchester United players unhappy with Erik ten Hag

As per The Sun, Some of United’s players were reportedly unhappy with his tactical decisions against City, such as playing Victor Lindelof as a left-back instead of Sergio Reguilon and positioning Bruno Fernandes on the wing rather than his preferred central role.

Despite the poor start to the season and the ongoing uncertainty around the club due to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid for control, Ten Hag’s position is not immediately in jeopardy.

The club’s chief executive, Richard Arnold, expressed that Manchester United are still making “good progress” under Ten Hag’s leadership, even though the team has experienced its worst start to a season in 37 years.

While discontent from the dressing room is a concern, United’s hierarchy continues to support Ten Hag.

The team has faced challenges in both the Premier League and Europe, but there are hopes that the return of injured players will strengthen the squad.

Ten Hag remains optimistic about the team’s future, despite the recent setbacks, and believes they are on an upward trajectory.

Ten Hag stated after the match,

“The three games before we won, and the spirit is very good, so I think we are on the way up.

The start was difficult but we are on the way up. I am sure when we have some injured players coming back our side will be stronger. We have to be patient.”
