Manchester United News: Injury updates, Garnacho charges & takeover drama

Manchester United News

After their Premier League victory against Fulham on Saturday, Manchester United are looking to build on their success as they face a crucial match against Copenhagen in the Champions League group stage.

The Red Devils secured a late and morale-boosting win against Fulham in the Premier League, and now they aim to continue their winning streak.

Their next challenge is an important trip to Copenhagen in the Champions League.

In their previous encounter, the Old Trafford outfit managed to secure a dramatic home victory over the Danish champions, with Harry Maguire scoring a crucial header and Andre Onana making a last-minute penalty save.

This victory provided a much-needed boost for Erik ten Hag’s team as they head to Denmark, and they are now just one point away from the second-placed team, Galatasaray, in the group.

With fixtures coming thick and fast, they also have a home game against Luton in the Premier League this weekend.

Manchester United News: A quick look through

Here are some of the key stories from Manchester United for Wednesday.

Marcus Rashford and Victor Lindelof are both back in full training for Manchester United ahead of their match in Copenhagen tonight.

Both players were absent from the weekend win at Fulham. Rashford couldn’t recover in time for the game due to a heavy knock in training, while Lindelof missed the Fulham match due to illness.

The good news for United is that Aaron Wan-Bissaka returned to the lineup, as the list of absent players begins to shrink.

Sheikh Jassim, the Qatari businessman who previously expressed interest in buying Manchester United, has stated that he has no intention of reactivating his bid, even though he harbors no ill will towards the club.

He withdrew from the race to take over United last month, allowing Sir Jim Ratcliffe to move closer to becoming a minority investor in the club with a 25 percent purchase in a £1.4 billion deal.

Sheikh Jassim, although frustrated that his lengthy pursuit of the club ended in failure after investing millions in his bid, still remains a fan of the club but has no plans for personal investment in other opportunities.

Alejandro Garnacho will not face charges from the FA for a controversial tweet celebrating goalkeeper Andre Onana’s penalty save against Copenhagen in the Champions League.

Garnacho had posted an image of his teammate along with his fellow players following the moment, along with two gorilla emojis.

Some campaign groups considered the post deeply offensive. However, Onana clarified that “people cannot choose what I should be offended by” and understood Garnacho’s intent, which was to symbolize power and strength.

The Argentine player subsequently deleted his post, and the FA has decided not to take any further disciplinary action, after asking for his observations on the incident.
