Manchester United welcomes Jack Butland to Old Trafford on a season-long loan spell

Jack Butland joins Man United on loan

Manchester United have now found a decent option for their alternate goalkeeper as the Red Devils bring in Jack Butland to Old Trafford on a short-term loan spell.

Until the remainder of the season, Jack Butland will be on loan at Manchester United from Crystal Palace. It looks like the Red Devils have already started exploring the January transfer window. And it is a good start indeed!

The reports of Jack Butland and Manchester United deal

According to reports that surfaced earlier this week, the Red Devils are interested in signing the nine-time England international on a short-term contract for the balance of the current season in order to add to their goalkeeping depth after Martin Dubravka returned to Newcastle United.

Butland’s impending arrival was officially revealed by the team on Friday after manager Erik ten Hag hinted at it in his press conference on Thursday. The 29-year-old will join the team on a temporary basis.

Jack:

“I’ve played against David de Gea and represented England alongside Tom Heaton; they are top-class keepers, and I am relishing the opportunity to compete alongside and support them as teammates.”

Together, Jack, David, Tom, and our young keepers make up a powerful team that will assist one another in fostering the best possible atmosphere for training and competition. Each person is eager to welcome him into the group.

Butland last played regularly in the Premier League for Stoke City during the 2017–18 season. He is yet to appear for Palace this year. His most recent of his nine appearances for England came in 2018, the same year he was selected for the Three Lions World Cup team.

More transfer rumors for Man Utd

The 29-year-old, who was a member of England’s World Cup team in 2018, has yet to play for the Eagles this season and is rumored to be interested in moving to United.

Since Martin Dubravka returned to Newcastle and Tom Heaton was designated the club’s backup goalkeeper for Tuesday night’s victory against Bournemouth, United is presently trying to add further competition for De Gea.

United have been keeping an eye on Yann Sommer of Borussia Monchengladbach, but a transfer for the 34-year-old would be improbable if De Gea signs a new contract.
