New Man Utd signing scores brilliant goal on international stage as midfielder provides three assists in win

Manchester United Jonny Evans and Christian Eriksen

New Manchester United signing Jonny Evans scored an amazing goal for Northern Ireland against Slovenia.

Still, the goal was not enough to stop them from losing 4-2 which ended their Euro 2024 qualification dreams.

No Euro for Manchester United defender Jonny Evans

Many Manchester United players are on international duty for the Euros 2024 qualifiers.

Northern Ireland lost their Euros qualifier match 4-2 against Slovenia despite defender Jonny Evans’s beautiful goal.

Thereafter, during the post-match interview, Evans accepted that they did not perform as a typical ‘Northern Ireland’ team.

“I didn’t think I played great myself. I know I got a goal but my own personal performance probably wasn’t up to scratch. I’m experienced enough and wise enough to admit that.”

“We can’t be giving away cheap goals at the start of the game like we did. It was difficult to take in terms of the defense. That’s something we have always been solid and quite strong with. Even during the game I was thinking this is not a typical Northern Ireland match especially away from home.”

Jonny Evans said during the post-match interview

We will not be seeing the Green and Whites at The Euros but the Danes might be glowing.

United’s Danish contingent perform at the Euro qualifiers

Manchester United’s new striker Rasmus Hojlund and midfielder Christian Eriksen featured in Denmark’s Euro qualifiers against San Marino.

Injury-recovered Hojlund came off the bench and played for half an hour in a 4-0 victory. On the other side, Christian Eriksen bagged a hat-trick of assists in the comfortable win.

Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg gave the Danes the lead before Eriksen provided the 2 assists to Joakim Maehle and Jonas Wind making it 3-0.

However, Danish coach Kasper Hjulmand didn’t had a plan to play Rasmus full 90 minutes.

“Hojlund is probably not ready [to play 90 minutes against Finland]. So the question is whether we should use him from the start or during the game.”

“Hojlund hasn’t had a full preseason, and he only trained for a week before he got a start against Arsenal. So it is not expected that he can play 90 minutes at full steam, and therefore there are considerations about that.”

Danish coach Kasper Hjulmand said to Bold.dk

Hojlund is yet to have his game for Manchester United which is not happening due to his injuries. The Red Devils are waiting to see the youngster’s full potential at Old Trafford.
