Manchester United fans may soon witness the arrival of a new name between the posts. Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens is reportedly in line to make his first appearance for the Red Devils, with this weekend’s Premier League clash against Brentford shaping up as the perfect stage.
United secured the 23-year-old from Royal Antwerp for around £18.1 million on deadline day, earning him the nickname “Baby Courtois” for his imposing frame and sharp reflexes.
His arrival coincided with Andre Onana leaving for Trabzonspor on loan, a move that opened the door for a fresh start in goal. But so far, Altay Bayındır has held on to the No.1 spot.

Why Senne Lammens could make his debut against Brentford?
Manager Ruben Amorim has eased Lammens into life at Old Trafford, keeping him on the bench for tough fixtures against Manchester City and Chelsea.
Those games came too soon for a newcomer still settling into the squad. Two weeks of training and bonding with teammates, however, may now give him the edge.
Veteran keeper Tom Heaton hinted at the Belgian’s quality after early sessions, saying, “His goalkeeping fundamentals are very impressive, and I think I said that to him after a couple of days of training.”
With no midweek games and a full week of preparation, the Brentford match offers a lower-pressure debut before bigger challenges arrive.
If Lammens starts and impresses, he could keep his place for the next league game against Sunderland. Strong showings there would set him up for an even bigger test — an October trip to Anfield to face Liverpool.

Man United goalkeeping stats (Premier League 2024/25 & 2025/26 so far)
Player | Season | Age | Apps | Shutouts | Goals Conceded | Minutes Played |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Altay Bayındır | 25/26 | 27 | 5 | 0 | 8 | 450 |
André Onana | 24/25 | 28 | 34 | 9 | 44 | 3,060 |
Altay Bayındır | 24/25 | 26 | 4 | 1 | 10 | 360 |
For Amorim, sticking with Bayındır would invite questions over why United spent big on a backup. Giving Lammens the gloves now feels like the natural next step in his journey to becoming United’s long-term No.1.
