Six-goal thrashing makes it 7 wins in 7 for United’s new class of starlets

Manchester United U18s defeated Leeds United U18s

The Manchester United U18s returned to league action after suffering their first defeat of the season in the Premier League Cup against Wolves. This time, they faced Leeds.

Leeds had an early chance with a through ball down the left, but United’s goalkeeper, Tom Myles, made a quick save to deny them.

Around the 10-minute mark, United started building pressure, and Jack Fletcher’s pass found Jayce Fitzgerald on the left.

Fitzgerald skillfully cut inside onto his right foot and curled the ball into the top right corner, leaving the Leeds goalkeeper with no chance.

Both teams had their moments, with Ruben Curley narrowly missing the target for United and Tom Myles making another crucial save.

As the first half progressed, United began to assert control, and in the 36th minute, they doubled their lead.

Fitzgerald’s cross-field pass found Lacey, who skillfully beat his defender and provided a pass to Malachi Sharpe. Sharpe finished with a sensational volley.

Myles had to make another stretching save just before halftime to keep the score at 0-2.

Only three minutes into the second half, Leeds failed to clear United’s corner, and the ball was recycled back into the box. Victor Musa attempted a shot, but Fletcher intercepted the ball and finished it himself.

In the 60th minute, Fitzgerald led a charge upfield, passed to Malachi Sharpe on the right wing, and, to everyone’s surprise, Sharpe scored from a very tight angle, making it 0-4.

With United in complete control, they made substitutions, including Gabriele Biancheri and Ethan Wheatley, who combined for United’s fifth goal.

Fletcher’s diagonal pass set up Biancheri, who crossed the ball into the box for Wheatley. Wheatley expertly turned and shot, with the ball deflected past the keeper.

Harry Amass, a summer signing who has impressed this season, added his name to the scoresheet for the first time in a United shirt.

Jack Kingdon’s long ball was flicked on by Wheatley, sending Amass through on goal to finish low into the net.

The convincing victory keeps Adam Lawrence’s side at the top of the table with a perfect record of seven wins out of seven in the league, averaging nearly four goals per match.
