‘Star boy’: Bruno Fernandes praises Man Utd wonderkid ahead of Copenhagen clash

Kobbie Mainoo

Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, has publicly praised Kobbie Mainoo, referring to him as a ‘Star boy’ as the club prepares for their upcoming Champions League group stage match against Copenhagen tonight.

Manchester United have been gradually building momentum with two consecutive wins in the Premier League, although those victories weren’t entirely convincing. Nevertheless, they managed to secure the wins.

In the Champions League, the club has struggled, failing to secure any points after losses to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.

Fernandes took on Instagram to appreciate Kobbie Mainoo

In anticipation of the upcoming game, Fernandes shared his admiration for Mainoo on Instagram.

Mainoo has now fully recovered from a knee injury he sustained during pre-season against Real Madrid in the United States.

Despite his young age of 18, Mainoo made a strong impression in the preseason for Manchester United.

He stood out with an excellent performance against Arsenal, providing an assist and displaying an impressive 96% passing accuracy while winning all his duels.

However, his promising start was marred by a freak injury sustained in the following game due to a reckless challenge by Casemiro on Rodrygo.

As a result, Mainoo has not been able to play for the club in the current campaign. Nonetheless, it is expected that he will see valuable playing time in the months ahead.

One of Mainoo’s notable strengths is his versatility, as he can be deployed in various midfield positions, making him a valuable asset.

While it’s unlikely that Mainoo will start in the match against Copenhagen tonight, there is a chance he might make an appearance in the second half if Manchester United establishes a comfortable lead of two or three goals.
