Ten Hag sacking ‘justified’ if Man Utd head coach starts ‘lousy’ attacker over £64m new signing

Rasmus Hojlund at Manchester United vs Arsenal

Erik ten Hag’s dismissal at Manchester United would be “justified” if he plays Anthony Martial over Rasmus Hojlund against Brighton next weekend.

This bizarre viewpoint comes from former Manchester United defender Paul Parker, well-known for his perplexing pronouncements about the Premier League giants.

United’s recruiting campaign during the summer transfer window was mostly focused on finding a new striker.

They were connected with Harry Kane, Randal Kolo Muani, and Victor Osimhen before signing Hojlund from Atalanta in Serie A. They spent £64 million plus add-ons to sign him from Inter.

Manchester United with the £64m Stricker problem

Rasmus Hojlund is under a lot of pressure this season since he is set to be United’s first-choice striker after scoring nine goals in 32 Serie A outings last season.

Rasmus Hojlund made his Manchester United debut as a substitute against Big Six rivals Arsenal last weekend.

The youthful striker fared well when he came in but could not turn the game in United’s direction.

Following four games, they are 11th in the Premier League, and they visit in-form Brighton in their first game back following the international break.

What does Parker have to say about Manchester United and Rasmus Hojlund issue?

“If he does not start against Brighton, all fans will demand Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, which would almost be justified. It wouldn’t make sense for him to start on the bench,”

Parker said to Spilxperten.

“Martial shouldn’t be on the bench at all. There must be a better young player on the bench, and Hojlund may be the primary striker.

All Manchester United fans are sick of seeing a player with a bad attitude, who sulks and complains all the time, and it’s a blessing that Man Utd finally has an attacker who plays with enthusiasm.”

Parker also compared Martial to a “greyhound,” Hojlund said he “couldn’t do worse” than the Frenchman after coming on as a substitute against Arsenal.

“It was the best thing that could have happened to him, because he knew he couldn’t do worse than Martial.”

When he entered the pitch, he used his body to shove Gabriel, almost sending him flying out of Emirates. Martial has never done something like that. He sits on the ground and sobs.

“He ran deep with incredible speed, something Martial has never done. Martial is like a greyhound because a greyhound never races past a hare, and Martial is the same way.”
